You may find that your SHO acts very strange and may stop running all together. It may idle very erratically and barely run. If you get coil pack codes then chances are that your DIS has died. Its time to replace it!
The DIS (Distributorless Ignition System) Module is the SHO's electronic version of an old distributor cap, rotor, points, etc. It controls the coilpacks and tells them when to fire. For this reason, sometimes apparent coilpack failures are really DIS failures. Symtoms of DIS failure, other than not running at all, are engine sputtering, missing, and stumbling. The DIS generates heat and uses the crossover tube on the intake as a heat sink. To keep from overheating and damaging the DIS, it is critical to use a thin layer of heat sink compound between the intake manifold and the DIS.
This is a brand new high quality DIS.
Very easy to replace, just 4 small bolts. Use only a thin layer of heat sink compound between the DIS and the intake manifold when installing.
