Outer tie rod ends are a common wear item. A bad tie rod will show by the steering wheel feeling detached and trouble tracking around long sweeping turns. The easiest way to inspect the inner tie rod ends is to jack the wheel off the grouns and shake the tire at 3 and 9 o'clock. If you feel a clicking or clunking, track down where it is coming from. If it has the same movement at 6 and 12 o'clock, it is most likely a wheel bearing. If it is only at 3 and 9 o'clock. suspect a tie rod end. You can have one person shake the wheel, while you feel where the play is located. The outer tie rod end is the pivot joint at the spindle. In addition to checking play by shaking the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock, you should also check for axial play by grabbing the tie rod end and seeing if there is play up and down. Also inspect the rubber boots for tears or damage. Any play is a worn tie rod end.
These are greaseable and come sealed.
Includes two outer tie rod ends and needed hardware.
It is best to replace both at the same time as the other one might be close behind. You will need an alignment after replacing outer tie rod ends.
