If you have worked on a 1989-1995 MTX SHO very much you probably have had to remove or replace the accessory belts. The belts are held in tension by manual tensioners. To release or increase tension, you slightly loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley and then use a 5mm hex key to turn the adjuster. The only problem is, who owns a 17" long 5mm hex key? Now is your chance to own one. I have had so many people want to buy or steal my personal home made tool, I built a batch to sell.
The 5mm hex key starts life as an high quality American made tool. We then cut/weld/extend a section of high strength steel to give you a super long T handle hex key. The extended area is not much larger than the 5mm hex key, so you can easily insert the tool without removing anything on the engine. I will be the first to admit, it is still a home made tool and could look prettier, but we are trying to keep the price down. This extended hex key is only recommended for use in tensioning the belt, and we would not recommend you use the tool to exert a huge amount of torque installing other fasteners.
The $19.99 price includes shipping in the US. If you need a shipping quote outside the US, please as us for a quote as it is an odd size.
Extended reach 5mm T handle hex key for use in tensioning accessory belts on 1989-1995 MTX SHOs.
Not recommended for high torque applications; it should only be used to tension the belt after you loosen the nut on the pulley.
