Rear Tension Strut Rods (TSRs) connect the rear spindles to the unibody. If your car has been exposed to road salt, chances are your rear TSRs are rusty under the bushings. Although complete failure of the TSR is possible, more than likely you will notice the rust when you change rear bushings. Once you remove the rust, the diameter of the rod will be too small for the bushing so you will get a loose fit. The loose fit means suspension noise and potential handling issues.
New Rear TSRs are not available. Other used TSRs from the rust belt are just as bad as your TSRs.
Here is our solution. SHO Source starts with rust free donor cars, and then we select the best TSRs we can find. There is still some minor surface rust, but the bushings will fit perfectly. These TSRs are as good as you can find used, but do remember they are used.
This kit is enough to do the entire rear end of the SHO for your strut rods.
This kit includes the following:
- 2 Rear Strut Rods
- Ingalls Rear Strut Rod Bushings OR Poly Bushings
- The Poly Bushings have good used washers from the used strut rod.
- The Ingalls bushings include new washers.
