MagnaFlow V6 SHO Y-Pipe 89-95
by Earl Anderson Date Added: Monday 26 October, 2015
89 SHO, CA Emissions

Pipe takes a bit of work to get on. Start at the front, leave it loosely bolted, and bend up a coat hanger to help you pull/lever the rear bracket over the manifold studs, have a tool ready in the non pulling hand to smack it down over the hole when it is close. Other than that fit issue, it works great. Smog story below. Ships with 3 gaskets to seal the connection to the cat-back system, 2 doughnuts and 1 flat.

Failed horribly this time after procrastinating a bit too long. Barely passed CO, ridiculously bad HC and NOx.

Replaced Y-pipe (with the CA version of this Magnaflow) and both O2 sensors. Cleaned out IAB. Warmed it up for about 20 minutes of city driving and a mile on the freeway. Took it in.

Tester person was incredulous afterwards. My SHO now makes almost no carbon, minimal NOx and HCs. Now to figure out who the Yamaha front badge disappeared with in the smog shop's parking lot...

PS Extra thanks to Matt and ShoSource for existing and then having to read my emails as I amateurishly struggled to fit the damn thing.
